Greetings!

I am the publicity chairman for "Art in a Pickle Barn" by the Skagit Artist Association. We put on an incredible art show during the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. We are the largest, longest running show in the county as we enter our 19th year. The following is a description and schedule of events for 2008. 2008 "Art in a Pickle Barn" Press Release

"Art in a Pickle Barn " in its 19th year is the longest running art show in the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. We have over 40 NW WA professional artists presenting Fine Art, Prints, Photography, and Cards at affordable prices. Some of the artists in the show include: Rose Mary Tate - International Awarding Winning Oil & Watercolorist, Dixie Tamcke - Award Winning NW Oil & Watercolorist, Louise Magno - Published Photographer and new comer to Watercolor, Josephine Heitzman - Published Award Winning Nature Photographer, & Joan Grout - Award Winning Published Watercolorist and Art Instructor. Color ad for 2008.

There will be daily demonstrations in the various mediums by the artist, Weekend Live Entertainment (Each week features different artist and styles of music, check the schedule), Kids Craft Table, and Muralist Jennifer Lommers creating a mural throughout the show. A portion of our Sales Commission funds the SAA Skagit Valley Community College Scholarship fund. History

"Art in a Pickle Barn" began in an old Nalley's Pickle Barn. Pickle Barn remained in that barn for many years until circumstances forced the move to a new barn. The current barn is used for storage throughout the rest of the year, but for the month of April it plays host to the Pickle Barn Show. As it turns out, at one point, while a short point, the current barn also had pickles in it, so Art in a Pickle Barn is still a true name reflecting the barn’s heritage.

Pickle Barn first began in 1990 and is the largest and longest running fine art show in the Skagit Valley. Pickle Barn is put on by the Skagit Artist Association which was founded in 1956. Skagit Artist Association is a 503 non-profit organization whose goal is to join artist in the community together to support each other and to support the scholarship fund setup @ the Skagit Valley Community College for art students. The scholarship fund comes from donations and part of the commission portion of the sales from the Pickle Barn each year. Each year, the current year recipient(s) are invited to display their work in the Pickle Barn alongside the artist from the association who are showing that year.
