A successful show is largely dependent upon good organization. The majority of the following requirements are an effort to keep things running smoothly and avoid any unnecessary confusion.

Eligibility Requirements

  • SAA Membership for a minimum of one full year.
  • A minimum attendance of 4 Membership meetings between September and March the year previous to the show. Two of those meetings must be attended between January and March.

Exhibitor Responsibilities

  • Proper framing and labels on the back of each piece.
  • Participation in the Pickle Barn show is also dependant upon taking part in working a number of "shifts" during the show.
  • Each member exhibiting, must serve on at least one show-related committee.
  • Each member exhibiting, must follow the guidelines for framing and labeling of artwork.
  • Each member exhibiting, must work the required number of work shifts during the show.
  • SAA will deduct a set percentage from each sale to cover expenses and apply to the Skagit Artist's Scholarship Fund.
  • Exhibitor will not hold SAA liable for theft of art work or for damage due to water leaks or other causes, or any errors in advertising or publicity.

Signing up

  • Before submitting your fee and contract it is VERY important that you take the time to review the Pickle Barn Rules (included in the By-Laws) for the fine details regarding, exhibitor spaces, the possibility of waitlists, withdrawl from the show, "acceptable artwork", etc.
  • Eligible, re-newed, SAA members can submit their Pickle Barn fee together with a signed Pickle Barn Contract to the SAA membership chairman no later than June 30th, prior to the show. Pickle Barn Contracts are made available at time of membership renewal (May).

Framing

  • Frames should be suitable for sale. (clean and undamaged)
  • Backing should NOT be cardboard
  • Frames also must have wires attached for hanging.

Inventory Labels

  • Use self-sticking computer labels with backing left on.
  • Attach label backing to back of frames in a way which will allow cashiers to easily remove the sticky label.
    • Minimum label requirements
    • The top line is mandatory and must be legible if you want to get paid for the sale. The second line is optional but helpful. Any additional lines are entirely optional but Art found without proper labels, will be pulled and held until the artist complies with rules.

2010 Show Preparations Schedule

  • March 25th:
    • Grids delivered and set up
    • cash register, phone, etc.
  • March 28th:
    • Set up is permitted between 10:00AM and 6:00PM
  • March 30th:
    • Set up is permitted between 10:00AM and 6:00PM
    • All artists are to have their displays set up as Judging will take place the following morning (March 31).
  • March 31st:
    • Judging will take place in the morning (10AM - Noon). Members are not allowed in the barn during the judging except for the President, PickleBarn, Awards and Sponsor Chairmen.
  • April 1st:
    • Show officially opens
    • The "Preview" is scheduled for 6:00PM to 8:00PM
  • April 25 and 26
    • Tear down of grids. ets.
  • Show Dates:
    • Saturday, April 1st - Sunday, April 25th
    • Closed Easter Sunday
  • Hours:
    • Mondays - Thursdays 10:00AM - 6:00PM
    • Fridays and Saturdays 10AM - 9PM
    • Sundays 11AM - 6PM
  • Sunday, April 25th:
    • Do NOT plan to tear down until at least 6:30PM.

 

Mall Rules for 2010

  1. No art, photography, etc. is to be displayed outside of the premises.
  2. All art, photography, etc. is to be kept in a safe, clean and proper manner. All boxes and other paraphenalia are to be stored under covered tables.
  3. All tables must be covered to the floor on all four sides. Tops of tables must be also covered.
  4. At no time is any art, photography, prints, cards, etc. to be carried in or out through the mall. Must be brought in and out through side door.
  5. No food or beverages are to be distributed or sold to customers.
  6. No solicitation allowed at any time on the premises or throughout the mall. No fliers, etc. are to be distributed outside of exhibitor premises.
  7. There will be designated parking set forth by the mall for all shift workers.
  8. Restroom is to be kept clean at all times and door closed. We can not refuse customers the use of restroom if they see door open. If customer asks for restroom, they are to be given directions to the mall restrooms.
  9. Members on duty must dress appropriately during our business hours. In other words, we are NOT in a barn this year and just need to look nice.
  10. Any member or members of S.A.A. who does not comply with the mall rules can and will be cause for immediate shut down of "Art in a Pickle Barn" show.

Do you provide shipping?

Pickle Barn participants can provide shipping information to be made available to customers upon request. Simply fill out this form and make it available in your Pickle Barn folder so the staff "on duty" can provide the answers to your customers shipping inquiries on your behalf. A great idea, isn't it?
