I call it collage. First I get an idea what I am doing bird tree etc. I then draw my main idea on to canvas. I take watercolor paper in variety of weights and old books, l use a mounting adhesive archival water base glue and or gloss medium, gloves and a brush. My next step is to compose my collage by overlapping the pieces till i get the compostion i like. I find sometimes the pieces look good close up but not from a distance. I spend lots of time moving pieces from one area to other. I enjoy this part and spend hours at it. I keep tearing my paper controling some of the edges to match my drawing outline. I will keep adding adhesive and smoothjng out the paper as I go along. I don't know what the picture outcome will be. I try to create an image that has balance color and proportion. This usally takes days, once it drys the colors can change so I might go back and overlap more paper. After the piece has completly dryed I can go back with a color pencil or maker and fill in spots or cover the white eges of paper or leave it to add to the look. I finally cover the piece with two coats of matte varnish.
